It aims at enhancing research and innovation to reach a massive integration of solar renewables in Reunion Island, a French outermost region located in the Southwest Indian Ocean Sea basin. Another objective of the TwInSolar project is to&nbsp;<strong>strengthen the visibility and attractiveness of the&nbsp;research laboratory<\/strong>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/piment.univ-reunion.fr\/\">Physics and Mathematical Engineering for Energy, the Environment and Buildings \u2013 PIMENT<\/a>&nbsp;of the University of La R\u00e9union.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>This project also supports the efforts of other insular territories and remote areas to build a decarbonised &amp; self-sufficient energy system. The CPMR Islands Commission leads the communication and dissemination of activities towards European Islands and will also develop synergies with key actors to promote the replication of results, together with&nbsp;Reunion Island\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nexa.re\/accueil\/\">Regional Research and Innovation Agency \u2013 Nexa<\/a>. Capacity building and knowledge transfer activities will be delivered through exchanges&nbsp;the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dtu.dk\/english\">Technical University of Denmark<\/a>&nbsp;(DTU), and the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ise.fraunhofer.de\/en.html\">Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems<\/a>&nbsp;(ISE), which are internationally renowned research institutions.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>The kick-off meeting of the TwInSolar project took place on 19-20 September 2022 in Freiburg, Germany. Partner representatives from the project consortium were hosted by the Fraunhofer ISE and discussed the project workplan, deliverables and upcoming activities.
