Solar energy policies in La Reunion
A carbon intensive island…

With a strong regional ambition for the Energy Transition : the Multi Annual Energy Plan (PPE) adopted in 2022…
The key objective of this plan is to reach 100% renewable energy sources in electricity generation by 2030, through :
And a smart specialization strategy (RIS3) aiming at turning the island into a global expertise centre, providing solutions to support islands and remote areas in their energy decarbonization and self-sufficiency efforts, with 3 major areas of expertise:
- the design and implementation of energy transition policies
- forecasting and optimized integration of renewable energy sources in off-grid systems
- tools and solutions to manage off-grid energy systems and increase their flexibility, notably through the development of energy communities and decentralized grids
