TwInSolar partners are happy to share with you the latest publication related to the project: “Probabilistic Solar Forecasts…
Through twinning activities with top research centers in solar energy, bridging the research gaps to allow massive solar integration, focusing in particular on the development of forecasting and smart management of energy systems
Building partnerships and reinforcing capacities to increase the participation of the University of La Reunion and the R&I community of La Reunion in Horizon Europe and the ERA on the long term
Capitalizing on the project experience and sharing the improved knowledge on solar energy in tropical climates, insular and remote areas, with other insular territories facing similar challenges
La Reunion, a tropical island located in southern part of the Indian Ocean, benefits from high sunshine throughout the year, which makes it an ideal place to develop solar energy.
La Reunion experiences one of the best solar potentials in the world, with a yearly global horizontal irradiance up to 2000 kWh/m² on the coastal part.
Solar thermal collectors and photovoltaic (PV) systems are already widespread in La Reunion. 70% of households are equipped with solar domestic hot water and PV represented approximately 25% of the total installed capacity of electricity generation in 2022.
La Reunion is committed on an ambitious energy transition with the objective of energy autonomy by 2030. A first step is about to be achieved in 2024 with 100% renewable electricity.
